The Stig Revealed.. Who cares? - 23-Jan-09

| OK so seeing as I've known who the Stig is for years, I'm probably not the best person to pass comment but I just want to ask: Why the hell is everyone making such a fuss about it? Why are people so desperate to know anyway? Does it really matter? Are there not more important things to worry about? Half the fun about the Stig is that he is anonymous and there is a certain element of "I wonder who he is?" to him but why people go to such lengths to try to find out his identity baffles me. Now the last Stig (Perry McCarthy for those of you who are completely uneducated) was killed off for revealing his identity in his autobiography (Flat Out, Flat Broke). There were also suggestions that he had fallen out with Jeremy Clarkson (or more likely the Top Gear producers) because he wanted some sort of rights over the name, which probably lead to his revealing himself in the first place (just to piss them off for saying "no"). Seeing as Ben Collins (oops did I say that?) deliberatly walked into a public place and pretty much announced himself suggests that it was a deliberate act so expect to see him killed off soon so the mystery of "who is the new stig" can begin.
