A review of The Death of Hope

OK first of all I found it difficult to accept how two Jedi Knights who, In Episode I, managed to navigate their way through the core of a planet using the Force had such difficulty tracking a human without getting shot to pieces. Nevertheless, the story was generally very good. Jude Watson yet again did a great job of bringing events to life and making things easy to visualise. Her writing is so captivating and I found myself unable to put the book down.

Anyway, the main story revolves around Qui-Gon and we see how his emotions start to cloud his judgement. This is handled extremely well by Jude Watson and she manages to convey all the emotion in such a short story.

Like with most books in this series, the story is seen primarily through Obi-Wan’s eyes and we get to see how he is affected by his master’s emotional conflict and slow journey towards the dark side.

Another great read and, aside from the few too many areas of gullibility on the part of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon, I can’t really knock it.
