Fine young cannibals

A review of The Hunger

While this book provided the usual excitement and adventure in the captivating writing style of John Whitman, I still found myself getting annoyed. This is mainly because I don’t like the idea of the civilisation that suddenly exists on Dagobah. It was bad enough finding out in the Thrawn duology that Yoda had visitors during his exile but for there to be an entire tribe of humans living there for 40 years was just plain silly.

Putting that to one side, the story itself was entertaining (if a little grizzly) and the character development, particularly of Zac, was very good. The entire series has been a pleasure to read.

One last thing; I’d like Zac and Tash to make an appearance in newer books because I think they are characters with a lot of potential. And how many other miner characters can say they have met Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, R2D2, C3PO, Lando, Wedge Antilles, Jabba, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and several other famous names all in the space of a year?
