More kart problems for IMSD

It was yet another disappointing day for IMSD Racing as the team again struggled for race pace at Whilton Mill.

Eddie, along with team-mates Ian Wilson and the returning Ian Miller, struggled home in 13th place with a kart that lacked bottom-end power.

“It was a really frustrating day because the kart felt generally good in practice. It had good top-end and it handled well and we were all pretty happy. I’m kicking myself now because I didn’t feel 100 percent comfortable in practice. I felt I was getting it wrong in turns 1 and 3, which was why I was getting poor acceleration on the exit. It turned out later that the kart was developing a problem with bottom-end, which screwed us for the entire race – we were well off the pace.

”I’m really angry at myself now because, not for the first time, I was too quick to blame myself rather than blame the kart. This shouldn’t be happening now because this is my sixth year in Club100 and I’m experienced enough and, quite frankly, good enough to know that I’m not going to make the same mistake more than two consecutive occasions on the same corner. After the third lap I should have brought the kart in to be checked.”

Eddie qualified a very disappointing 23rd on the 31 kart grid after getting badly held up on two of his runs. Ian Wilson made a brilliant start, making up 8 places on the opening lap to establish the team easily in the mid field, which is where they stayed until the chequered flag.

“It’s a real shame because we all drove really well again. None of us made any mistakes, we kept out of trouble and we were all very quick. It’s just again we were let down by not getting it right in practice.”
