Champions!

Only days after announcing he is to stay with Target Racing for the 2010 Premier Endurance series, Eddie wrapped up the Open Endurance title with Avit Racing. Despite not being present at the race, Eddie’s team mates secured their 5th win in 6 races to wrap up the championship with a round to spare.

“I’m happy for the guys. We have been the class act all year and deserve the championship. It’s always nice to wrap things up with a win on the track and they did this in great style so I’m really pleased for them.”

Eddie admitted he was disappointed not to be there to see them clinch the title and found out the news via text.

“I sent a text to Harry asking how they got on. He sent a message back telling me they had won the race and of course I knew that meant the title was sewn up. For me, championships have always been a bit of an anti-climax. I didn’t know I’d won the Inters title in 2005 until an hour after the race, the 2006 European Clubman title wasn’t won on the road and I wasn’t even present for this one. Still, a championship is a championship and I’ll take it however it comes.”

Eddie competed with Kieran McCullough and Lee Clackett for Pothunters in the opening race of the year and won. Avit Racing won 5 out of the 6 races thereafter.
