Yet another second place

After securing Galliard’s best result of the season at Ellough Park last month and more recently taking a close fought 4th place at Bayford Meadows with Enriched Racing to maintain the lead in the Challenge Championship, Eddie headed to Rye House last weekend to compete in round 8 of the Premier and Sprint championships.

With the news that multiple champion Trevor Randall will be joining the team for the remaining races, hopes were high for a strong finish in the endurance race on Saturday. Unfortunately, a broken exhaust and a black flag for both Trevor Randall and Paul Williams meant the team could only finish 8th.

The sprint race was much more competitive. Good qualifying heats saw Eddie line up 2nd on the grid for the first final. A race-long duel with runaway championship leader Jonny Goddard for the lead of the race saw Eddie finish less than a second behind. Despite being quicker, Goddard defended well.

Final 2 saw Eddie line up 5th on the grid and spent most of it attempting to find a way past Alex Ring. Being backed into the chasing pack, Eddie once again fell victim to Daryl Boyle and his penchant for Eddie’s rear bumper. A hectic last couple of laps saw Eddie drop to 8th but still maintain his strong 5th place in the championship.
