I have nothing to lose

Since my last blog I’ve have had 1 podium in the prem championship and 3 podiums in the open championship, including a win. As such, Alliance Racing currently sits 3rd in the premier championship and I sit 2nd in the Open championship. My team can no longer win the prem title but I am the only driver able to overhaul Lee Clackett in the open series.

Having said that, I have made my job very difficult. A mistake earlier in the season where I skidded into the fuel bowser at Buckmore cost me 2 places and 10 points. A black flag for overtaking Clackett under yellow flags (for the race lead) also cost me 10 points and a certain victory. Without those incidents, I would be leading the championship going into the final race but, as it stands, I sit 15 points behind and I need to win with Clackett finishing 5th or lower if I am to take my 3rd open title. A tall order but I have nothing to lose and, if anything, the pressure is more on Clackett.

The prems has gone well this year. The team has gelled really well and we are fighting for a podium at every race which is where I know we should be. That first prem victory remains elusive but I’m confident of getting it soon. We’ve had some really good races but also a little bit of bad luck. We were on course for another top 3 result at the last race but Jay was unlucky to get caught up behind a spinning backmarker which cost us a lap. A black flag for Chris in the closing stages meant we lost a top 5 but we are in good shape going into the last 3 races.

Oh, and in other news, I’m going to be a dad.
