Synopsis

Qui-Gon has been captured and imprisoned by the evil scientist Jenna Zan Arbor. She has weakened him and taken samples of his blood in order to study the Force. Unable to fight his captor, Qui-Gon wages a mental and emotional battle with Arbor. But how long can he survive?

Meanwhile, Obi-Wan and Astri attempt to find Qui-Gon. Astri's father, Didi, has also been poisoned by one of the bounty hunter's weapons and only Jenna Zan Arbor has the antidote. The two follow the trail of the bounty hunter in hopes of saving both Qui-Gon and Didi.

Lord Depravus Says

Better than I expected - 14-Dec-09

Writing these short reviews for some of the young readers novels can be quite difficult given that I'm an adult - chronologically at least. Personally I like the whole Qui-Gon and Ob-Wan series because it gives a lot more depth to the relationship between the two characters but I do, however, find the concept of many of the stories to be rather poor because of the obviousness of targeting the kiddy community.

This is a classic example because why would the Jedi Council send a 14 year old Padawan off on his own around the galaxy to rescue Qui-Gon? Surely they would send a couple of older and experienced Jedi Masters to deal with it.

That aside, it was a fairly entertaining read and I'm glad that Ms Watson made Qui-Qon fairly cool and strong during his captivity - I was worried about that before I read the book.
