Synopsis
Six years ago, Qui Gon and Tahl helped supervise a peaceful yet controversial election on the planet Apsolon. In particular, they guarded the twin daughters of the newly elected leader. Now that leader has been killed and Tahl worries that the twins she grew close to could be in danger. She secretly goes to the planet to protect them.
After she is late in returning, Qui-Gon has a horrible vision. He decides to go to Apsolon with Obi-Wan to find Tahl. There, they find the planet on the brink of civil war and plagued by scheming factions. There is also no sign of Tahl. Qui-Gon's fear goes beyond that of friendship. Could he be a Jedi in love?
Lord Depravus Says
Who done it Mr Poirot? - 21-Jul-10
You would have thought after14 stories they would start getting a bit stale. This just isn’t the case. Jude Watson’s writing is still as captivating as ever and this book was as good, if not better, than earlier ones in the series.
This was obviously written before we knew about the “no attachment” rule amongst the Jedi but the underlying emotions between Qui-Gon and Tahl are very subtle and don’t negatively impact on Qui-Gon’s character.
There wasn’t really anything bad about this book. It read a bit like a bit of a “who dun it” where, if you read between the lines, it is not hard to figure out who the villains are but knowing this makes you want to turn the page more to find out how events will unfold. The cliff hanger at the end is very well done and made me grateful that I bought the last few books so I could read the next one straight away.
