Synopsis
Lord Depravus Says
Chapter complete. Move on the the next chapter - 14-Dec-09
I'm honestly not a great fan of all these Dark Jedi and potential Sith apprentices that keep cropping up in the Expanded Universe. It ruins the whole rule of two concept for me. However, I did find this a very good read and the character development of the apprentice and his female accomplice was very well done. Their burgeoning relationship made the book much more enjoyable to read.
Whilst the overall story was quite good and at times very compelling, I felt that there were too many annoying aspects to it. Now it’s going to be difficult to explain without revealing some of the story so consider this a spoiler alert.
I really did not like his conflict with Vader at the end one little bit. I think the defeat of the dark helmeted one was too easy and made him look far too weak. I also didn't like the unnecessary inclusion of a certain princess character and a fairly well known droid. The whole thing at the end with Bail and the other rebels didn’t have enough thought put into it. If they were that badly wanted by the Emperor then surely someone like Bail would have gone on the run. Instead he obviously went back to Alderaan and lived there happily for two years before being blown up. Surely the Emperor would have pursued him and taken care of him during that time? This is fine for a computer game that isn’t canon but makes it a less believable inclusion in the series of books for me.
