Synopsis

When valuable prisoner Lune Divinian disappears from his cell on Yavin 4, Luke is determined to find him. As the only link to X-7, the assassin sent to kill Luke, Div is the only hope to staying a step ahead of the Empire.

Across the galaxy, X-7 has escaped from Imperial custody. Caught between the past and the present, X-7 must fight the only battle for which he's not prepared: the battle with his identity. But his desperate confusion makes him more dangerous than ever.

A chance encounter and a figure from the past bring X-7, Luke, and Div together for a final showdown that will reveal everything—or destroy them all.

Lord Depravus Says

A good recovery - 15-Mar-10

Well after reading the tripe that was Firefight I was hoping for a better effort from this book and I was not disappointed. Although it felt a little bit rushed in places – which I guess is to be expected when having to condense a plot into such a limited number of pages – the story was much better. It was well paced, action packed and actually quite enthralling. Alex Wheeler has got the main characters’ personalities down to a tee and seems to find the right balance of Star Wars humour in all the right places.

The main part of the book involving Div’s attempts to deceive X-7 was the part I felt was rushed as it flicked from scene to scene and I really had to pay attention. I felt this could have been written better but other than that the book was very entertaining. The ending was good and left me eagerly anticipating the next instalment from the series.

The other thing I liked about the book was getting a bit more back-story to what happened to the characters from the Last of the Jedi series. I got the distinct impression that could well be another series we see published by Scholastic at some stage...

So anyway, I say hats off to Ms Wheeler for recovering from a poor effort to bounce back with such an entertaining read.
