A slow start

It was a slow start to the 2004 season as Eddie failed to even make the B final for the opening race of the season. The day got off to a shakey start after Eddie started from pole in his first heat. He lost two places at the first hairpin and held that position until the field reached the bottom of the hill. He made a mistake and started to spin and was collected by a few karts behind. Managing to rejoin, he pulled a couple of places back to finish a distant 14th.

The second heat was no better. After an appalling start, dropping from 9th to well outside the top 10, he never really looked comfortable in the race and only managed to finish 11th making the most of other people falling off the track.

Knowing that he had to pull something special out of the hat in his third qualifying heat, Eddie made a cracking start and went from 18th to 8th by the time the field reached Symes Sweep. Unfortunately he was then hit by a kart that got sideways and he again had to start way down the order and could finish no better than 15th.

His poor heats put Eddie only 17th on the grid for the C final. Again making a good start, Eddie went around the outside of a number of drivers at turn 1 and made a few more places up at the two hairpins. He continued to slowly carve his way through the field during the 10 lap race but could manage no better than 9th in the final standing.
