With less than a week to go until the first race of 2006, there is a sense of nervous excitement and anticipation leading up to what promises to be an exciting year.

Eddie and the IMSD Racing team are moving up to the Premier Championship this year and will race in the Clubman Class. On paper they look to be in good shape and Eddie has already gone as far as saying he feels very confident about the coming season.

Eddie has refused to comment on how well he thinks the team will perform in the first race.

“The first race of the season is always a bit of a lottery anyway, a lot of people will be a bit rusty and we don’t know what the rest of the competition is like yet. This year there are new chassis as well, which will be a new unknown element at Buckmore at least. We will just have to go to the opening race and do the best job we can. How well we perform there will give us a good indication of our relative position for the rest of the year.”

Eddie has been working hard on his fitness over the last couple of weeks to make sure he is in top shape for the season opener.

“I have been doing a good amount of bike riding and running and I’ve cut out the biscuits. I’ve lost a few pounds, which should help gain a few hundredths of a second!"

Eddie has already said he is looking forward to the new season and relishes the challenge of racing with all of the top teams and drivers on a more level playing field than the sprints.

“We proved in 2005 that we can mix it with the best of them in endurance races. I think we could be knocking on the door of the top six overall and should be there to pick up the places when the top guys have bad days. I’m really looking forward to it!

“I’ve never gone into a season with this much confidence before and I’m sure that extra confidence will make all the difference this year. The only thing I’m not really looking forward to is the early starts – all Prem races being on Saturday morning!.”
