Eddie and his 3Cubed team mates recovered from a disastrous start to claim victory in a one-off appearance in the karting challenge. The team lost nearly 3 laps at the start when Ian was forced off the road by a spinning rival but the trio of Wilson, Alex Withington and Eddie Hall managed to claw their way back to win the 3 hour race by a lap from the faltering ClubEasy Racing team in what was an awesome recovery drive.

Eddie was sent out in practice to get the kart tested and brought it in when the track started to dry complaining of a bent chassis and poor bottom-end in the dry conditions. He was also nominated to qualify and managed to get one clear lap before the rain started again, preventing any more quick laps. Despite an impressive spin when the rain started, he set the 6th fastest time.

Ian started the race and, being disadvantaged heavily by being on the outside line, lost ground at the start before being taken out by a spinning rival. This dropped the team to the very back of the field and nearly 3 laps behind. By the time Ian came in, they were lying in 12th position.

Eddie went out for his first of two 30 minute stints and managed to pull the team up to 3rd position and just over a lap behind the leaders of fellow Club100 premiers Jordan Hill, Glen Beard and Howard Kayman.

Alex continued the impressive form, gaining ground on the leaders, who were by this stage suffering with engine problems, putting 3Cubed in a net second place. Between them, Ian and Alex did three 20 minute stints each while Eddie was given two longer 30 minute runs.

During Eddie’s second stint, he passed Glen Beard for the lead on track and proceeded to pull a half lap lead for the remainder of the stint.

Alex took the chequered flag having pulled out an even bigger margin after Glen Beard was given a black flag for overtaking under yellow flags. He crossed the line over a lap clear of second place and two laps ahead of everyone else. This was the team’s first victory in only their 7th race together and is a much needed boost after a run of disappointing results.
