The final race of the 2009 season will take place at Rye House this weekend and it will be Eddie’s final event of the season as he has already stated he will use the winter break to rest his rib injury.
After the heartache of losing the championship at the previous round, Eddie has admitted that he is looking forward to the final race and that he has put the disappointment of Whilton behind him.
“Obviously it was a really disappointing way to end what has been a fantastic season. To be taken out of a race on the first corner of the first lap is never good but when it costs you a championship that is just gutting. I’m over it now and want to concentrate on doing a good job at Rye and ending the season on a positive note.”
Eddie is still battling for second in the championship with Lee Kemp but admitted that he is not thinking about it.
“To be honest finishing second or third doesn’t really make any difference to me – it’s just first or second of the losers as far as I’m concerned. I can’t finish lower than third and I only have to finish about fifteenth to keep second if Lee wins so unless I have a complete disaster like I did last time I was here it should be OK.”
