Another dominant win in the Open

It was yet another dominant display in the Open Championship as Avit Racing stormed to victory nearly three laps ahead of their nearest rivals and extended their lead in the championship.

Eddie joined Avit Racing for round 3 of the championship to partner Jordan Hill and Glen Beard and the trio were in a class of their own. This is Eddie’s second appearance in a round of the Open series this year, having raced in the opening round at Buckmore and also dominating that event.

Glen Beard qualified but seemed unable to find a clear lap and could manage no better than 10th fastest. Jordan took the start and proceeded to make stellar progress through the field, taking the lead on lap 20. The team would not lose the lead for the rest of the 3 hour race.

Eddie was given the two 30 minute stints and put in consistently fast laps without putting a foot wrong all day. Both Jordan and Glen both did three shorter stints and all drivers drove perfectly to secure the team’s second consecutive victory.

Eddie gave his views after the race.

“It was great to race with Jordan and Jerry again. After we raced together at Bayford a couple of years ago there have been a few times since where there was an opportunity to team up again but it’s never quite come off. He’s an awesome driver and I hope we can do more races together again. It was also good to team up with Glen. I’ve only ever competed against him in the Prem endurance and sprints so it was good to be on the same side for once.”

As for the race itself, Eddie didn’t have much to say about it other than complementing his team mates.

“Brilliant. Perfect. The kart was spot on; we all drove brilliantly; we stayed out of trouble and it was just a great all round performance. I want to thank the guys for inviting me to join them and I’m glad I could contribute to their championship challenge.”

This was only Eddie’s third race in the Open Series and he has now won two of them.
