Eddie beat Neil Maidment in the Frontmedia sponsored squash league for the second consecutive match today. Eddie's crushing 4-1 victory over the reigning champion puts Eddie at the top of the provisional league.
The match looked like it was going to be another Maidment victory as he cruised to a 9-0 win in the first game before Eddie came back to win the final 4 games, two of them 9-1. Eddie, as always, was very cautious about the win. "It was a good match but not easy" were Eddie's comments afterwards "Neil walked away with the first game and I was thinking 'here we go again' but he didn't seem to be quite his usual self and he missed some shots that I think he wouldn't normally miss.
"I don't think I played that much better than usual, I just think I had the advantage on the day. Nevertheless Neil played very well and I enjoyed the match."
Eddie is still the only person to have beaten Neil. "It's a good feeling, especially when you consider that for a long time I was the only person not to have won a single match! I have improved quickly and I would like to think that this serves warning to my karting rivals 'I learn quickly, watch out!'"
