Eddie kicked off his 2003 squash campaign in style after beating Simon Tompsett 3-0 in his first match. Eddie beat Simon 9-5, 9-3, 9-6 to win three consecutive games. Simon later admitted to suffering shoulder problems.
It was a bitter blow for Simon, having finally broken his duck against reigning champion Neil Maidment in the first match of the year last week, beating him 3-2.
Simon took defeat well saying "Eddie played very well today, his return shots were just so hard I couldn't hope to return them."
Eddie's win moves him to the top of the league, knocking Simon off the top spot. Reigning champion Maidment has his work cut out in third place, although, as Eddie said, never count him out!
